Hollywood Themed Open House

Who are we: SWOOP is a student-run advertising agency from the University of North Texas that works with real-world clients. Specializing in the YMAC (Young, Multicultural, Always-Connected) segment, SWOOP is known for its dedication to creating impactful campaigns.

Project Type: Brand Awareness Campaign

Term: Spring 2025

Theme: Hollywood Red-Carpet

Purpose: Promote the SWOOP brand to future applicants by increasing brand awareness and student engagement. We transformed the Open House into a Hollywood red carpet–themed event inspired by the Oscars to generate excitement among students and highlight the unique talents each individual can bring to SWOOP.

Strategy: Broaden SWOOP Agency’s reach beyond advertising majors by positioning the agency as an inclusive, career-launching space for students in design, business, communication, and related fields.

 

Tactic: Highlight how their unique skills contribute to real-world client work. We aim to reframe SWOOP as a creative hub where diverse talents can thrive, collaborate, and jumpstart their professional journey.

Pre-Campaign Roll-Out: We posted flyers across campus and recruited students by handing out personalized cutouts. Additionally, we visited various classrooms to give brief presentations, generating interest in the SWOOP brand and encouraging new member applications for the upcoming semester.

Social Media: We expanded and actively engaged on SWOOP’s social media, which had been underutilized. We created posts that repositioned SWOOP into a newly revamped, knowledgeable, and professional student agency—an experience students wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Results: Our team's efforts caused a 40% increase in open house event attendants and a 75% increase in SWOOP applicant enrollment compared to Fall 2024. 

Post-Campaign Roll-Out: The SWOOP team chose to move away from traditional QR codes and instead used NFC-enabled tap cards that linked to a centralized portal containing our Linktree, social media platforms, and application form. This approach allowed us to keep all relevant information in one easy and accessible location while providing students with merch & swag to take home to remember SWOOP.
